about
The first evening was hosted by the Yusupov Museum-Palace on Moika. This place is always a challenge: there are many rules designed to preserve a fragile legacy. But our goal was for the guests not to feel any restrictions, but to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere.
We didn't want the guests to just look at the beautiful interiors. It was important for them to feel the power of history, to touch the fate of the Yusupov family. Our director Nona Bulygina studied all the available archives, and based on this we created an immersive performance. It unfolded in four halls of the palace, telling the key stories of one of the richest and most influential families in the empire. We've thought through every detail.; from costumes to the everyday life of the era, and for the roles, we found artists who were equally strong in immersive theater, classical stage and impeccable English.
The evening was built on interactive content. We held an auction where not only copies of legendary items from the Yusupov collection went under the hammer, but also personal lots from the history of Ella and Roma: a golf ball from a joint tournament or a teddy bear - Roma's first gift to Ella. So the guests took away not just souvenirs, but a piece of their love.
The apotheosis of the evening was the Yusupovs' home theater, the stage where Chaliapin, Pavlova and members of the dynasty performed. Ella and Roma continued the family tradition by inviting the guests to the performance. The program combined Russian ballet, opera and a string orchestra. It all started with a dialogue between the bride and groom, who appeared in the imperial boxes. Their sincere conversation about love became the prologue and leitmotif of the whole action.
After a busy cultural program, the celebration moved to the ship. There, Russian motifs sounded in a new way - modern and energetic, performed by singer Ekaterina Velikopolskaya, completing the first day with a smooth transition from history to a carefree night.
